What is a Prepper? by PrepperMom

Another great definition submitted by PrepperMom

What it is to be a Prepper as Defined from the personal viewpoint of PrepperMom

To prepare , Protect , and Provide for my family at all costs.
I must be prepared to protect my family , weather it from the nature or man.

* I must be aware of my environment
* Be aware of the risks of my environment
* Be prepared to battle the risks of any environment

I must educate myself , and my family members on how to be self sufficient if the need arise.
I must be strong enough to defend myself and my children if my husband is not around.
I must be knowledgeable , my children's lives may depend on MY quick thinking.
I must be willing to do what might make me uncomfortable to aide the greater good.

Being a Prepared to deal with any situation that may arise is an act of love for my family.

  1. I consider a prepper to be one who thinks ahead and prepares for various scenarios as best as possible. Someone who shares his/her knowledge with others in hopes of increasing their chances of survival in any disaster or emergency situation.

I have this definition in mind, because it describes ME! I've lived in hurricane country (Florida) all my life, when I lived in Miami folks there took hurricane season seriously.

Since I moved to central Florida, people there had no idea of what to expect before, during or after...but my family was prepared.

We weathered the storm, after which surveyed damage, secured our home, and began helping neighbors.

A few big things neighbors faced were loss of electric, water and sewer, knowing this presented a variety of threats...We helped by explaining proper rotation/preparation of perishable foods, how to ensure safe drinking water and oddly enough HOW to FLUSH a toilet with no water service (there was a lake out back!).

Since that time, I have constructed an urban disaster survival website, to help educate, prepare and save the lives of many beyond my immediate reach.

I've always believed knowledge is USELESS unless it's shared and applied how and when it's needed.
